FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q. Will there be more books after WAKE and FADE?
A. What we have here is a trilogy. So there will be one more book, called GONE. It comes out Feb 9, 2010. My next book is a stand-alone paranormal thriller with a love story, called Cryer's Cross, which is due in stores in spring 2011.

Q. Are you going to make WAKE into a movie?
A. I don’t have a lot of control over that. Like most authors, I write books -- I don’t know how to make movies. But I have a film agent who is working on things and if there is any news to share in this regard, I assure you I will share it just as soon as I can.

Q. How did you get your ideas for the trilogy?
A. I had a dream that I was in my husband’s dream, watching what he was dreaming about. Wrote it down, thinking it was an interesting concept. When I woke up, it still sounded cool.

Q. Are you going to write anything after the WAKE trilogy?
A. Yes. I have a stand-alone book under contract. It will be a paranormal as well, but a bit different from the WAKE trilogy. No title yet. It’s scheduled for spring 2011 with Simon Pulse. I plan to keep writing for a while, as long as I have readers buying books!

Q. I want to be a writer. Do you have any writing tips for me?
A. Well, I don’t have a big list of tips, but other great authors do, like Ally Carter http://allycarter.com/ya_ally_writers.php and Cassandra Clare http://cassandraclare.livejournal.com/21613.html. So those are great places to look.

Q. Can you read my poem/story/novel?
A. No, I’m sorry. I stay really busy writing novels and answering fan mail. I get requests every day from people who want me to read their stuff. I just can’t do it. Sorry about that. But you know what? No authors read my stuff either, and I turned out okay. You know in your gut what’s good. Use your instinct. And find other writers to exchange work with – writers who will tell you the truth about your work. That’s what I did. You can find other writers online at places like Absolute Write, Verla Kay, Zoetrope, and Backspace.
